چکیده

A 69-year-old gentleman presented with sudden-onset dizziness and diplopia. Clinical examination findings were suggestive of posterior circulation stroke. He was found to be in atrial flutter on admission, reverting spontaneously to sinus rhythm. Three weeks before admission, he was admitted to a different hospital with anterior circulation Figure 1 (A) Transthoracic echocardiogram (PLAX view) showing the mass in the LVOT attached to the inter-ventricular septum. (B) Transoesophageal echocardiogram confirming the mass measuring 1.1!1.1 cm in the LVOT attached to the inter-ventricular septum. (C) Transoesophageal echocardiogram showing the mass prolapsing through the aortic valve. (D) Intraoperative picture showing the jelly-like mass attached to the inter-ventricular septum.

Atypical presentation of a ventricular papillary fibroelastoma

Papillary fibroelastoma is the most common valvular cardiac tumor. The most common non-valvular site these tumors present is the left ventricle, where they usually manifest as ischemic strokes or myocardial infarction. Although these tumors also have a risk of embolization into the peripheral system, reports of such events are exceedingly rare.  A 77 year old female presented to the hospital f...

Papillary fibroelastoma of the left atrial wall: a case report

Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma is a rare, benign cardiac tumor. It often arises from valvular endocardium, and non-valvular endocardial location is rare. Although transthoracic echocardiography is usually sufficient for the diagnosis of most cardiac tumors, small tumors such as papillary fibroelastoma may be missed. Transesophageal echocardiography is superior to transthoracic echocardiography...

Papillary fibroelastoma of the heart: report of two cases and review of the literature.

Papillary fibroelastoma is the most common primary cardiac valvular tumor. Historically, papillary fibroelastoma was an incidental autopsy finding, deemed to have no clinical significance. More recently, reports of symptomatic cases of papillary fibroelastoma with complications such as myocardial infarction and stroke have led papillary fibroelastoma to be considered a potentially dangerous les...
